What is new?

Design properties editing

Layer management

  • You can now add or delete layers.
  • A variety of layer types are supported: signal, power, mechanical, documenting layers, etc.

Pads

  • Unlike previous versions, all pads, displayed in the editor, can be used for the following operations: routing, creating output files, and export  of files to other CAD systems.
  • Polygonal pads are supported.
  • You can create padstacks with various pad shapes on different layers.

Vias

  • You can create blind and buried vias.
  • You can create pads with diameter that varies from layer to layer.

New way to define rules

New options for defining routing rules were added to the new version of the program. Now you can set independent rules for wire bus control and net clearance.

  • Rules can be set for all layers, a layer group, or a separate layer.
  • Rules can be set for all nets, a group of nets, or a separate net.
  • The new version of the program takes into consideration the actual clearance, unlike version 4.x, where the arithmetic mean of neighboring net clearances was calculated.

Nets can now be assigned to specific layers during autorouting.

Besides, a number of new rules for High-speed design has been introduced, including:

  • Configuring differential pairs.
  • Equalizing signal delay for a group of nets.
  • Setting the absolute delay value for a net or group of nets or differential pairs.
  • Setting the delay value for a net or group of nets or differential pairs with regard to a reference value.

Manual topology editor

  • A panel for layer visibility control is available during editing.
  • Pad components are selectable.
  • A new type of wire called “zipped wire” has been introduced for creating differential pairs.
  • For signal delay rules, the “serpent” object has been introduced. A “serpent” defines the area where a lengthened wire can be packed.
  • TrueType fonts are supported.
  • You can add both single vias and via matrices.
  • Transformation tools include rotation, translation, and font replacement.

Import/Export

  • Import and export of Expedition 2005 and 2007 projects is supported.
  • When working with external CAD systems via DSN files, you can adjust the exported *.ses file according to the requirements of your CAD system.

Pre-production

  • For GERBER file export, negative layers can be output (for example, ground and power supply layers).
  • For DXF file export, polygons are now output as a single outline, unlike version 4.x, where they were output as straight lines. This results in significant reduction of the file size and facilitates subsequent editing in mechanical CAD systems.
  • The lists of objects to be output, can be managed both for both GERBER and DXF.
